Outside Fireplace Ideas

Chilly evenings allow you to appreciate a warm fire, and the calming impact is doubled when you’re sitting outside under the stars. There are many ways to integrate a fire place in your lawn besides standard fireplaces, such as outdoor kitchens, chimeneas and fire pits. Outdoor fireplaces — regardless of what kind they take — require the same safety concerns that indoor neighbours require. Constantly keep flammable materials away from the flame, and have a fire extinguisher handy.

Fire Pit

Fire pits do not require a huge place. You can use a fundamental fireproof bowl to create a minimal fire pit for your friends and family to gather around. Some possibilities for a fire pit include small tabletop pots which operate on small containers of gasoline, and metal bowls put in a gravel bed inside your lawn. Whether you build your own fire pit or purchase one, then make sure all of the components are fully fireproof, and place it into an area that is surrounded by gravel, dirt or other nonflammable materials.

Stone Fireplace

Fireplaces do not have to be built of bricks. A stone fireplace is a decorative alternative to brick. You can choose stones that resemble the local rocks in your area for a more natural appearance. You can even find artificial veneers to cover a normal brick fireplace and make it look like it was made from rocks.

Outdoor Kitchen and Wood-Burning Oven

If you have an outdoor fireplace, it is possible to make it do double duty as a sloping oven. You’ll have to add cooking racks within your fireplace if you would like to use it for baking pizzas or bread. When you construct a fireplace outside to double as a kitchen area, make sure you have a lot of nearby counter space and a sink for food preparation.

Chimenea

If you don’t have sufficient space for a permanent fireplace, a chimenea could be the solution. According to the Museum of Culinary Arts, chimeneas were once indoor cooking ovens which were positioned near your window to allow the smoke from cooking from the clay oven to escape. Today, chimeneas can be made from clay or metal, and it is possible to find many different decorative styles. The chimena is a fireplace, complete with chimney and stand you could move from place to place around your deck or lawn.
