Thought of the Week: Jewel-Toned Kitchen Islands

While I’m certainly a big fan of this all-white kitchen, I must mention that colorful kitchens have really been catching my attention. There is something perfect and pristine about the all-white palette, a kitchen with astonishing colour is quite lively.

Cabinetry and walls are always fun to play, but I am loving the look of all-white cabinetry blended with an island in a saturated jewel tone. It’s completely unexpected, and makes a room look a little more fun and quirky. Best of all, unlike altering flooring or tile, it’s a relatively easy fix which can transform the look of your kitchen.

The bright amethyst islands within this kitchen are what first set me on this kick. I love the contrast of the bold colour with the exposed brick and rustic hardwood floors. Try painting your island with Benjamin Moore’s Passion Plum to get a similar look.

Andrea Schumacher Interiors

This kitchen was created by Colorado designer Andrea Schumacher. From the beginning, her customer knew that she didn’t want to have an all-white kitchen, so Schumacher mixed it up with habit Stark wallpaper along with a dazzling emerald island, painted in Benjamin Moore’s Cat’s Eye.

I love how this brilliant sapphire island changes the look of this differently all-white kitchen. Without this colorful kitchen island, the kitchen would be beautiful — but nothing especially unique. Try brightening up your island with a similar hue with Sherman Williams’ Dazzle.
